Dubai unveils plans for a dazzling new Museum of Digital Art

MODA will be a landmark feature of the new DIFC Zabeel District

Dubai’s arts and culture section is getting an exciting new addition: a Museum of Digital Art (MODA).

Unveiled by HH Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the Museum of Digital Art is set to become a landmark new addition to the city’s cultural landscape.

A first-of-its-kind museum dedicated to digital art and new technologies, the Museum of Digital Art will rise in the DIFC Zabeel District expansion, a collaboration between Dubai Culture and DIFC. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the new cultural institute “aims to create a dynamic environment for artists, researchers, and emerging talent from across the local and international digital arts sector,” per an Instagram post by Dubai Culture.

Within MODA, visitors will be able to explore a futuristic collection of permanent and temporary exhibitions spanning five floors, serving as a future-focused cultural institution that brings together art, technology. There will also be immersive experiences, educational spaces, and interactive platforms, which will all invite guests to explore, experiment, and discover a range of multidisciplinary digital art mediums.

While DIFC will lead the museum’s development, Dubai Culture will oversee its operations and strategic cultural direction.

Although no timeline has been given, the first phase of the DIFC Zabeel District is due to open by 2030, with the full masterplan set for completion in 2040.

An estimated development of Dhs100 billion, it will host world-class commercial space, luxury residences, premium hospitality, curated retail, and diverse cultural and wellness facilities.
