TV’s Eric Knowles to guest at William De Morgan exhibition

De Morgan, who was a leading figure in the British Arts and Crafts Movement, is famed for his Persian-influenced tiles and pots, incorporating lustre glazes and stylised forms of fantastical beasts.

His work can be found in institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, William Morris Galleries, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and The Ashmolean.

His pieces remain highly regarded and sought after, from simple foliate tiles to unique large-scale vases and chargers.

This showcase, featuring works held in private collections, will also include William Morris tiles and works by other contemporaries.

The exhibition, curated by specialists Michael Jeffery and George Kingham, will be open from Tuesday, May 26 until Friday, May 29, from 9am to 5pm at Kinghams’ Moreton-in-Marsh auction centre.

An accompanying catalogue is available to buy.

Antiques Roadshow expert and TV personality Eric Knowles will be attending the opening day of the exhibition from 11am.

Mr Knowles, a patron of the De Morgan Foundation, is an expert on De Morgan’s works.
