Stroud art exhibition by art psychotherapists returns

The seventh biennial Examined Expressions will be held at the Lansdown Gallery, from Tuesday, November 25, to Sunday, November 30.

The exhibition features work from 13 artists, all of whom are registered art psychotherapists, including Alley Akoh, Reinhild Beuther and Karina Burt, among others.

Each artist draws inspiration from their professional experiences, creating pieces that reflect the lives of their clients, as well as the therapeutic role of art in bridging the known and unknown.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Many of us have come to art psychotherapy from other careers where our experience brings with it much understanding of the difficulties faced by our service users.

“Often we find that the training as art psychotherapists can change formal classical art-making as fine artists into something altogether more visceral, more connected, more curious.”

All artists involved are registered with the British Association of Art Therapists and the Health and Care Professions Council.

The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
