Selina Maden, who specialises in wildlife art and pet portraits, took third place in the annual Art of the Year competition run by international art shipping specialists PACK & SEND.
Selina first picked up a paintbrush when her daughter was seven, creating a mural that sparked an early passion for art.
After stepping away for several years, she returned to painting around five years ago and now sells her work through Facebook and at fairs and markets across Lancashire.

Using pastels as her main medium, she creates colourful, expressive portraits designed to capture the charm and humour of the animal world.
“My goal is to capture the playful spirit of the animal kingdom and share this happiness through my work,” she said.
“There’s something magical about the way pastels blend and layer, allowing me to embody the playful spirit of each creature I portray.
“Through my art, I hope to evoke laughter, spark curiosity, and remind people of the joy found in the unexpected.”

Selina’s prize includes £250 worth of art shipment vouchers and recognition alongside other up‑and‑coming artists across the UK.
“I’m overjoyed to have my artwork recognised in this way,” she added.
“For people seeking a splash of colour for their home or a unique gift that spreads joy, my artwork is designed to inspire smiles and spark conversation.”
The competition is part of PACK & SEND’s ongoing support for artists, collectors and galleries in safely transporting artwork across the country and overseas.
