More than 300 works go on show
More than 300 original artworks created by Dylan Moran are to go on sale at the comedian’s first ever solo exhibition.
Opening at the Two Kats And A Cow Gallery in the arches on Brighton seafront next month, the show is described as a ‘rare opportunity to be immersed into Dylan’s eccentric, creative world’.
The images include characters from his stand-up, with the originals going on sale from £150 to £900.
Gallery owners Kathryn Matthews and Katty McMurray say: ‘His quick wit, clever observations and fascination with words are a continuous thread throughout these mixed media works.’
Also going on sale are set lists from his live shows, such as the one below, sold with a personal recording from Moran.
Moran, who now lives in Brighton, once said he ‘went mad’ with painting during his 2018 Grumbling Mustard tour, explaining: ‘I was drawing and doing these watercolours at a rate of dozens a day at one point because I was so busy trying to avoid writing.
‘I furiously displaced all my nerves into drawing and produced a lot of weird artwork that I really enjoyed doing. I only realised [years later] what an incredible index to the subconscious it is.
‘I was trying to figure out what the show should be about and the drawings were telling me but I was too busy doing them to notice.’
The Characters And Creatures exhibition runs from April 6 to 13, during which time the works will also be available to buy online.
