Kimberley artist Caprice Hogg currently has an exhibit on display at the Esplanade Art and Heritage Centre in Medicine Hat, Alta. for the next six months.
Hogg said this is a huge honour and gives her the opportunity to return to her southern Alberta roots, while showing off the mountains she knows and loves here at home in Kimberley.
“I grew up in southern Alberta; the prairies shaped who I would become as an adult and as an artist,” she said. “I dreamt of living in the mountains and landed in Kimberley in 1997.
“It is here that I established my career. With this exhibition, I am able to return to my roots and show the beauty I have seen. It is an honour to be able to exhibit in such a special place and to let the art bring people together.”
Hogg has been an artist since 1994 and established the Caprice Fine Art & Co Studio in Kimberley in 2003. She creates oil paintings that capture the beauty and wonder of the nature around her.

Her exhibit at Esplanade is entitled “Time After Time: Landscape Oil Paintings”. The showpiece of the exhibit is a large 72” canvas of Bootleg Mountain.
A posting on medicinehat.ca writes:
“With a career spanning more than three decades, Hogg’s paintings reflect an enduring commitment to the natural world and a deeply personal way of seeing—one informed by travel, lived experience, and an intimate relationship with the land.”
“Time After Time” is accompanied by Adrianne Williams’ “Because of Her.” and “dlúne æîk’ãzñ – mouse spirit power” by Heather Shillinglaw.
