Wolverhampton Art Gallery is hosting the 2025 Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition later this month – the first time the current crop of images has been on display outside of London.
The winners of the world-renowned competition were announced last week and the images will be on show in the city from 25 October until 25 January 2026.
The photographs would be on large-scale lightboxes accompanied by an atmospheric soundscape evoking the environments captured in the images, the gallery said.
Kathy Moran, chair of the competition’s jury, said: “There is nothing more rewarding or moving than seeing our relationship to the natural world, in all its complexity and splendour, shared on the world’s biggest platform for wildlife photography.”
There were 19 winners in categories for young people and adults.
Dr Doug Gurr, director of the Natural History Museum, which runs the competition, said: “Now in its 61st year, we are thrilled to continue Wildlife Photographer of the Year as a powerful platform for visual storytelling, showing the diversity, beauty and complexity of the natural world and humanity’s relationship to it.”
Chris Burden, City of Wolverhampton Council cabinet member for development, jobs and skills, said: “We’re proud to welcome back the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition to Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
“I encourage everyone, especially our young people who can visit for free, to come and be inspired by the power of photography.”
