Programme of events for 10th anniversary of Mario Finlayson Art Gallery

Gibraltar Cultural Services has announced a special programme of events to mark the 10th anniversary of the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery. Located at the City Hall, the Gallery will reopen on Tuesday 3rd June following a short period of refurbishment and re-curation.

The updated layout will feature recent acquisitions and, for the first time, works by acclaimed Gibraltarian artist Christian Hook, who now joins the ranks of artists represented at the Gallery, alongside Mario Finlayson, Gustavo Bacarisas, Elio Cruz, Jacobo Azagury, Rudesindo Mannia, and Leni Mifsud.

Two fireside chats chaired by Alice Mascarenhas will offer insights into the legacy of Finlayson and Bacarisas. These will take place on 5th and 11th June, with tickets available at buytickets.gi.

The celebrations continue with a special late-night opening during Calentita on 20th June, and a Family Open Day on 5th July, featuring storytelling and life drawing workshops for children.

Additional initiatives include school workshops, upgraded visitor resources, interactive QR codes, and a revamped gift shop—all part of the Gallery’s renewed commitment to outreach and education.

GCS has thanked the public for their patience during the closure and looks forward to welcoming visitors back.
