The exhibition will run in Edinburgh from March to September 2028.
Making Her Mark: A Celebration of Women in Art launches today, April 30, at Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Penzance, in Cornwall, and will run until September 27, 2026.
The collaborative exhibition aims to examine the barriers faced by female artists over the past 150 years, while looking at the enduring influence and impact of their work today.
In Scotland, Making Her Mark will tour to Kirkcaldy Galleries in 2027, while Inverness Museum & Art Gallery will present Communities of Making the same year, exploring Scottish wool traditions through a project co‑curated with young people.
Further north, Aberdeenshire Farming Museum will participate in New Faces New Focus, exploring the theme of journeys, from migration and exile to the milestones, traditions and celebrations on our journeys through life.
The exhibition model is focused on touring and sustainability rather than one-off exhibitions, and is aimed at making major art accessible to wider audiences across the UK.
The Going Places scheme is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The Julia Rausing Trust, with additional backing from trusts, foundations and private donors.

“It will bring outstanding works from museum collections to new audiences across the country, with many objects travelling beyond their home institutions for the very first time.
“Going Places demonstrates what’s possible when museums come together to share collections, resources and expertise – forging a more sustainable future for exhibitions and empowering communities across the UK.”
