“I try to capture the aliveness of things, the beauty, with pre-emptive rose tinted glasses.”
Well we can all do with a bit of that, says Arts Editor Trish Lee.

Ramsbury artist Georgie Weedon is a British Australian painter born in 1979 in London. Her colourful and joyful semi abstract paintings are inspired by the things she loves: music, the sea, still life and a sense of the ‘aliveness’ of things.
She is currently showing her work in All The Lovely Things at the vibrant Blackbird cafe in the heart of Chapel Row. Owners, Efi and Stephen love to show art on the walls .
Georgie works mostly in acrylic, charcoal and canvas and paints from her studio in Wiltshire where she lives with her husband artist Philip Shaw, and daughters Margot and Rosebud.
Her work reflects her love of colour, the wild and ancient parts of the UK, as well as a mild obsession for the coast, flowers, pottery and jugs.
Among many others, she is inspired by Bernard Cathelin, Jo Vollers, and the blues of Matisse and Somerset potter George Bronwin.

Born in London, Georgie studied at Goldsmiths College and initially pursued a career in documentary filmmaking, producing and directing films for the BBC and Al Jazeera. She made a series of films for BBC arts about theexiled theatre group BFT, as well as a The Poet of Baghdad and Return to Somalia with RagehOmaar.
There will be an art evening at The Blackbird on Thursday between 6.30pm-8.30pm to view the work.
All are welcome
