New Rail Art Trail launched in Essex for train travellers

The Rail Art Trail, launched in Essex, connects travellers to galleries, museums, and street art along branch lines and the mainline between Colchester and Ingatestone.

The scheme celebrates station artwork created by schoolchildren, volunteers, professional artists, and community groups.

Jane Stewart, community rail officer, said: “We have already got lots of Rail Ale Trails along our lines which celebrate the wonderful pubs that can be found near rail stations, so we are delighted to add something new with our first-ever Rail Art Trail.

“People can discover local artistic talent or admire great masters like Thomas Gainsborough, with easy connections thanks to the frequent and comfortable new Greater Anglia trains that operate on all our branch lines.

“I’d encourage everyone to grab a leaflet and start planning a great day out using one of Greater Anglia’s great value Ranger tickets that allows you to explore all day.”

Copies of the leaflet can be found at stations and art centres throughout Essex.
