Look inside the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead 2025

The Fair runs on the Lower Fairground site until Sunday, May 11 with both local and international artists taking part.

Turner prize-nominated David Shrigley is among those showing work, with 106 galleries showcasing contemporary paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture and photography.

(Image: Affordable Art Fair) Visitors to last night’s private view got the first look at Willow Tree, a new geometric installation by artist Claire Knill, whose work focuses on the connection between art and mental wellbeing.

She is also showing several curated displays at the fair including art inspired by Hampstead.

North London artist Vanessa Brassey, who is celebrated for her paintings of wild swimmers on the Heath, is leading painting classes overlooking the famous ponds during the fair.

(Image: Affordable Art Fair) And Muswell Hill architect turned landscape painter Simon Gazzard is showing his expressive oil paintings of the parkland and woods near his home, which capture feelings of the freedom of London.

Other artists taking part include Sean Durkin, known for his urban scenes in the style of LS Lowry; Sun Ju Lee, a contemporary artist whose work blends traditional Korean aesthetics with modern sensibilities using enamelling, printing, and fused glass; and Corbin Shaw who tackles masculinity and male emotional repression through text-based works that take inspiration from Sheffield’s football terraces, boxing gyms and pubs.

Sessions this year include Summer Lates, when ticketholders can enjoy live DJ sets with a drink in hand while browsing the fair for new art pieces, and family mornings with free activities from painting workshops to face painting.

There is also a competition for Hampstead pupils to create art based on the theme ‘Heath and Happiness’, with winning pieces showcased at the fair.
