The event, a creative collaboration between Pocklington Arts Centre and Burnby Hall Gardens, saw artists gather on Friday, June 20 to paint outside among the gardens’ collection of more than 100 varieties of Hardy Waterlily.
The garden was described in 1993 as “the best natural setting in Europe” by a visiting symposium.
Angela Stone, director of Pocklington Arts Centre, said: “It has been a joy to collaborate with Burnby Hall Gardens on this unique event and we can’t wait to exhibit the incredible range of work produced by our talented local artists.”
Led by Phil White, East Riding artist and broadcaster, the day invited artists to capture the beauty of the gardens in various mediums.
Selected works are now set to go on display in a public exhibition running throughout July at Pocklington Arts Centre’s studio gallery, alongside pieces from professional artists.
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm on Tuesdays, and Thursdays through Saturdays.
A special preview evening will be held on Tuesday, July 8.
Pocklington Arts Centre is a not-for-profit venue offering a programme of music, comedy, theatre, and film for audiences across East Yorkshire.
