Bolton Museum open art exhibition to return in 2026

Three prizes will also be up for grabs, granting winners £250 to spend on art supplies.

The Young Artist award – available for entrants aged between 16 and 25 – is sponsored by Bolton at Home, and the Visitors’ Choice award is sponsored by Bromley Art Supplies.

The main prize – the Winners Prize – is sponsored by the Library and Museum service itself.

Presiding over this year’s judging is Amy Brunn, Exhibitions Manager at Salford Museum, Professor Kirsty Fairclough of the School of Digital Arts at Manchester Metropolitan, David Gledhill, artist and co-director of Rogue Artists’ Studios, and the Manchester Young People’s Panel.

Submissions are due on January 29 2026 at Bolton Library, so anyone who wishes to get involved should get their work ready to bring in on this date.

All mediums are accepted except installations and live performances, including painting, sculpture, digital art, print, photography, mixed media, and textiles.

Entrants must be aged 16 or over and live, work, or study in Bolton.

This open submission exhibition process offers artists and craftspeople the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.
