‘Art After Dark’ – described as ‘an evening of exhibitions, open studios and collaboration’ – is set to take place on Friday, March 20.
Preparations are well underway and its organisers Make CIC are encouraging attendees to “plot their path” using the now-available event map to ensure they don’t miss a single workshop, exhibition, or “behind the curtain” studio tour.
With 18 venues across the town – stretching from the industrial energy of the docks to the heart of the high street – planning is described by the organisers as ‘key’. The official Art After Dark map is available online, allowing visitors to scout out their must-see stops in advance.
To make the night even more accessible, Make CIC has announced that a physical Art After Dark brochure will be available for collection at every participating venue on the night.
The brochure will include a full trail map.
The full programme features ‘detailed’ listings for each venue, including interactive sessions at Green Jam Creatives, “rare access” studio tours at Hamilton Vaults, and the creative hub activities at Future Yard and Start-Yard.
A spokesperson for Make CIC said: “The buzz in the town is palpable. With one week to go, we want people to start getting excited about their route.
“Whether you’re a regular at the Williamson Art Gallery or a first-time visitor to Play Play Play, the brochure and map are there to make sure you can navigate this massive town-wide celebration with ease.”
The event runs from 5pm until late on Friday, March 20 and is free.

Make CIC is a social enterprise, founded in 2012 by Kirsten Little and Liam Kelly.
Its aim is to support its residents to turn their passion into prosperity by providing studio space for people who might otherwise be working at home, composed of artists, makers, creatives and small businesses.
It runs a programme of workshops, public classes and courses, exhibitions and support, across sites in Birkenhead, Liverpool’s North Docks and Knowsley’s Huyton Village, which are collectively home to more than 150 residents.
In Birkenhead, Make’s work includes supporting and participating in the Leftbank Collective and the Argyle Independent Quarter, as part of a wider commitment to fostering ‘a creative, inclusive and resilient town centre’.
