Art project awarded funding to transform rubbish into art

Fareham Borough Council has given £315.05 from its Community Fund to Artcycle, a Community Interest Company.

This money will be used to buy equipment, safety wear, and reusable materials for their junk art workshops.

The workshops, which create various art projects including bags and decorations, are well received by the community.

Artcycle is involved with charities, children’s groups, and social care to make sure these workshops are accessible to everyone, especially those who would benefit the most.

Councillor Connie Hockley, executive member for leisure and community at Fareham Borough Council, said: “Artcycle is a truly deserving recipient of community funding.

“It’s also fantastic that they are able to make junk into art and usable products.

“I encourage anyone who is interested in crafts or being more environmentally aware to come along to a community workshop and take part.”
