Art on the Common returning to Harpenden in June 2025

Scheduled for Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, Art on the Common will showcase more than 60 artists from the area over two days.

Harpenden artists have displayed their work at the art fair for more than 30 years.

The art fair is an opportunity for the attendees to appreciate and purchase art and to play a role in the effort to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

In 2024, Art on the Common raised more than £7,000 for the cause.

Art lovers can expect a wide selection of jewellery, ceramics, photography, woodwork, mosaics, handmade greetings cards, decorative glass, embroidered art, and large paintings. As well as celebrating recognised artists, the event caters to art enthusiasts wishing to explore their own creative hobbies.

There will also be representatives from the town’s art and photography clubs.

New to the event this year is the inclusion of live demonstrations of traditional lace-making, organised by the St Albans Lacemakers.

The main sponsor for Art on the Common 2025, Artscape, has agreed to provide a discount on framing for visitors who purchase wall art at the event.

There are even options starting at just £2 and the event doesn’t just celebrate recognised artists, but also caters to art enthusiasts wishing to explore their own creative hobbies. Art on the Common organiser, Liz Thompson, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Artscape’s support in promoting and sponsoring our event.

“Their help is invaluable, introducing new visitors to the event and followers to all our artists.

“Their sponsorship greatly increases our donation to Cancer Research UK and we are delighted that they are on board.”

The art fair coincides with the Harpenden Summer Carnival, Saturday, June 7, offering a fun day out for families.
