A unique art auction has been launched in Exmouth to raise funds for the RNLI, marking the charity’s 200th anniversary.
The initiative follows a talk given last year by Exmouth RNLI to Exmouth Art Group, which inspired members to create and donate 24 original paintings.
The artworks, many of which feature the Shannon class all-weather lifeboat R and J Welburn, have already raised money through two exhibitions.
Lydia Kettle, president of Exmouth Art Group, said, “We are fortunate to live by the sea and are conscious of the invaluable and unwavering service that the RNLI provides. We are delighted to support them and hope the auction raises a sizeable sum.”
The paintings are now available through a silent auction, running from July 1 to September 30. All proceeds will go directly to RNLI Exmouth, as the artists have generously donated their work.
Visitors can view the full collection online at exmouthlifeboat.org.uk/auction or via the RNLI Exmouth Fundraising and Shop Facebook page. Eight paintings will also be displayed each month in the RNLI Shop at Exmouth lifeboat station.
Bids can be submitted by completing a slip at the RNLI Shop or by emailing auction@exmouthlifeboat.org.uk.
