69th St. James Court Art Show returns to Old Louisville Oct. 3-5 | Local News


LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Thousands of people are expected in Old Louisville for the 69th St. James Court Art Show, which runs Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5.

The event is a nationally recognized juried fine arts and contemporary crafts festival that features more than 600 artists from across the country. It is held among the country’s largest collection of Victorian homes in the heart of historic Old Louisville.

During the three-day event, hundreds of thousands of guests will discover unique works in 17 artistic mediums, from clay to wood and everything in between.

The four-square block, outdoor art show takes place annually on the first weekend of October. Six unique sections include: St. James Court, Belgravia Court, Fourth Street, 3rd Street, 1300 Section and West End Baptist Church.

The St. James Court Art Show is held just south of Central Park on St. James Court, Belgravia Court, Magnolia Avenue, 3rd and 4th streets. During the show, all streets within the event perimeter will be closed.

Parking for St. James Court Art Show 

Parking is at a premium for the big event, and local schools and professional buildings use it as an opportunity to fundraise. For complete information, visit the St. James Court Art Show site. Here are some options: 

  • Cochran Elementary School: 500 W. Gaulbert Ave.
  • DuPont Manual High School: 120 W. Lee St.

  • Youth Performing Arts School: 1517 S. 2nd St.
  • Noe Middle School: 121 W. Lee St.
  • Louisville Woman’s Club: behind 1322 S. 4th St. 
  • Local 54 Louisville Professional Firefighters at 425 W. Lee St. 
    • Attended by off-duty firefighters
    • Includes access to a clean bathroom
    • Proceeds benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association
  • The Edison Center (701 W. Ormsby Ave.)
    • Customer Parking
    • Rate: $20 per vehicle
    • Includes: Continuous shuttle service (approximately every 15 minutes) to and from the entrance of the Art Show
    • Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. (October 3–5)

Public transit

Park your car at PARC’s Brown Hotel Parking Garage (658 S. 3rd Street) for $15 which includes a round-trip ticket to the art show via TARC. PARC operations staff will be on hand at the garage to distribute tickets from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The first bus will leave the Brown Hotel Parking Garage at 10 a.m. each morning, the last bus will leave the art show at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Handicapped Parking

Limited handicapped parking is available on the east side of 6th (along Central Park) between Park and Magnolia Avenues and the north lane of Hill between 6th and 3rd streets.

Bike Parking

Bike Parking is available in Central Park near the Old Louisville Information Center and LMPD 4th Division.

St. James Court Art Show

The Louisville UnFair

The Louisville UnFair returns as an alternative art festival showcasing local artists and musicians in a grassroots what it promoters as an “inclusive atmosphere.” The event is held in the backyard of the Magnolia Bar at 1398 South 2nd Street. It features vendors including fine arts, furniture, pottery, jewelry, glassworks, photography, paintings, printmaking, sculpture, and more.

Organizers of the UnFair takes pride in promoting creativity and diversity while supporting local talent. There is no charge for artists to participate, so they can keep the money they make. Money is also raised by selling festival merchandise to help artists facing “life’s harshest changes.’
