First permanent digital art gallery in Prague to open soon

A permanent gallery that will showcase digital and transmedia art will open in a former market hall in Prague next month.

Signal Space’s inaugural exhibition, Echoes of Tomorrow, will showcase the work of artists and studios that are chronicling the evolution of digital art and culture, as well as actively shaping its future.

The eight works combine algorithms, human intuition, spatial illusions and perceptual networks with sound, movement, rhythm, data and light.

Signes

The works will include Playmodes Studio’s Signes, an AV canvas that is part pictorial canvas, part kinetic sculpture and part digital screen.

Behind Signes’ final form, a matricial canvas of 12 x 4 rotating custom light bars, lies a handcrafted set of software and hardware elements built by the artists themselves.

Fighters

Fighters is a film about the algorithmic genesis of Italian visual artist Quayola’s latest marble sculpture and the expressiveness of new robotic gestures.

The collaboration between Quayola, a former ISE creative keynote speaker, and music producer Max Cooper draws inspiration from Michelangelo’s Captives, a series of never-completed sculptures.

Intangible #form

Japanese artist Shohei Fujimoto’s Intangible #form, meanwhile, explores the process of perception through spatial structures composed of laser light.

Signal Space founder Martin Pošta said: “Each work offers a different way of thinking about the future – not as something distant, but as a web of choices, habits, memories and technological gestures that shape our everyday.

“This first exhibition is not just a premiere, it is a manifesto.”

As well as exhibitions, Signal Space will be home to the Signal Playground interactive space, where young children and families can explore storytelling through digital art and technology.

Echoes of Tomorrow will run from 30 September until the end of March 2026.
