The 3D illustrator talks to CR about her inspirations and how AI allows her to explore complex techniques while maintaining her artistic fingerprint
While Anil Rinat’s toy-like digital characters and objects might appear otherworldly, the 3D illustrator draws inspiration from Earthborn sea creatures and other animals, making them relatable and familiar to viewers. “Their diverse shapes, textures, and movements fascinate me,” she explains. “I focus heavily on texture and form, using soft organic shapes. I like to create a fun and approachable feel in my work. The textures I use are intended to add a tactile quality, making the pieces feel almost real.”
Before landing on 3D digital art, when Rinat was young, she knew she had a deep passion for creation but “wasn’t yet sure which direction I wanted to take”. She sought to professionalise her digital techniques at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, where she enrolled in visual communication, which gave her a foundation for turning her passion into a career. She relocated from her home in Israel to London in 2019 before moving to Cardiff in 2022 to be closer to nature.
