A NEW art shop specialising in colourful, abstract works has opened its doors in Lymington.
Tanya Ingleton said Wilverley Gallery in St Thomas Street offers customers something “a bit different” and more contemporary than traditional artworks.
She helped her husband Ed open Salt Marsh Gallery, also in St Thomas Street, in 2017 after working for years in retail marketing.

“Wilverley Gallery is a very different space,” Tanya told the A&T. “We’re offering different pieces – paintings and ceramics and such – but the theme is all about colour and is a bit more abstract.
“That’s what inspires me. Salt Marsh Gallery is more about seascapes and more traditional art pieces.”

The couple have lived in Lymington for more than 20 years after relcoating to the area from Basingstoke for work.

Tanya said: “We’ve always loved it here and I’ve always wanted to run the kind of art shop that Ed and I like visiting on holidays. That’s what gave us the inspiration to run our own store, plus we both like collecting things.
“Wilverley Gallery is about branching out with a different vibe. It’s quite funny – customers come in and ask if all the pieces I’m selling are mine, which of course they’re not.

“The creativity comes in putting it all together for display.

“People have also been coming in and saying how nice it is that this end of Lymington is becoming a bit of an art hub – hopefully Wilverley Gallery will be part of a good reason to visit this end of town.”
