The Arts Guild of Vermilion presents the Splash on the Lake art gallery in the Main Street Vermilion office, 685 Main St., now through Aug. 31.
The new installment of the art gallery features colors and scenes to best represent summer and summer in Vermilion through a collection of artwork, according to Krystyne Waldorf, artist and member of the Arts Guild of Vermilion.
In the gallery, members of the Arts Guild have created photographs, paintings, greeting cards, jewelry, stationary decorations, beach glass art and many other items to best represent summer, she said.

“It’s all that summer on the lake type of feel, that’s what we’re looking for and that’s what artists try to portray,” Waldorf said.
“Anything to do with the beachy scenes – the boats.”
Notable for being a lake town, Waldorf said much imagery depicted contains scenes of Lake Erie, water, boats, fishing and more.
A variety of hand-crafted items were made by over 20 artists and are on sale at a range of prices, she said.
“I think it gives them (guests) a true feel for the area,” said Waldorf.
“You’re in Vermilion, you’re on Lake Erie”

Items sold in the gallery not only help the artists she said, but also help support Main Street Vermilion and its ongoing programming.
“It (gallery) gives you all different price points, so you could pay for an original piece,” Waldorf said.
“I think we have something for everyone that way.”
Though original pieces of work, many items, specifically paintings, are fairly priced for guests and visitors to have easier access to unique and quality, handmade artwork, according to Waldorf, who created stainless steel anklets for the gallery.
As an artist, she said it’s always a goal for artwork to be sold where it will be displayed proudly.
“I want my artwork to have a home,” Waldorf said.
“They sell well at that price, and they (artists) like to move their work.”
During the Third Thursday event July 17, Waldorf said the Arts Guild will celebrate Christmas in July by offering a selection of winter-themed art pieces, including original sleighs for sale.
Guests who often are not able to visit Vermilion in the winter will have the chance to see original artwork created for the season, she said.
“Come and see us – it’s a fresh show,” Waldorf said.
“I always look forward to seeing the fresh work.”
