Gray Area Gallery Norwich celebrates first anniversary

Gray Area Gallery in West End Street, Norwich, opened in March 2023 and has since held nine exhibitions.

To celebrate its first birthday, the gallery held an exhibition featuring the work of its four represented artists: Mark Mann, Dan Bloodworth, Daniel Franklin, and Kenza Gray.

The exhibition opened on March 28 and ran until April 1.

The gallery was opened by fiancées Kenza Gray and Marie-Laurence Boisvert with the aim of displaying art that falls into the “grey area” of what is often shown in commercial art galleries.

They focus on artists that work with unusual mediums, such as textile or shooting pottery and artists whose work addresses unusual or often overlooked narratives such as queer histories or folk art.

The gallery said: “This exhibition was aimed to be a big celebration of the one year of the gallery, there was no overarching theme for the artists to adhere to and instead all artists displayed works which best showcased their year of creating.

“The opening night was packed, with a huge amount of people turning up equally to celebrate one year of the gallery and see the artist’s new works.”

The exhibition closed on April 1, but the artists’ works will be available to see in the gallery afterwards, with most of the exhibition staying installed until their next exhibition.
