The mural by street artist @SinnaOne, in Storrington’s Place Villerest, commemorates the close connection Storrington has with the iconic white stork, which has become a symbol of “rebirth” and “hope”.
The artwork was created over two days (May 12 and 13), with final tweaks next week.
The celebration of this bird in Storrington is not new; the village’s ancient name, ‘Estorchetone’, is mentioned in the Domesday Book, meaning the “abode or homestead of storks”.
The mural is a community-focused venture, supported through funding from locals.
It will be formally revealed on Saturday, May 23, marking the start of the White Stork and Nature Festival at 9:30am.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to observe the mural’s creation process this week, with more information available by email via storks@storrington-pc.gov.uk.
