An EastEnders legend has denied using artificial intelligence in his paintings as he opened his first solo exhibition.
Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, launched his “Icons” series of portraits at Brighton’s Indelible Fine Art Gallery on 7 May.
After posting images and videos of his paintings online, including a portrait of Sir David Attenborough, Wood’s followers accused him of using AI in his pieces.
Wood denied this, writing: “I do not use AI to generate any of my artworks. I do not use AI personally. The images and photos I’ve used were already in existence and I have then collaged them (digitally or manually) and then painted over them digitally myself before printing and sticking them over a mixture of collage, spray paint and acrylic.”
Ten per cent of the sales of Wood’s prints will be donated to Dementia UK, “a cause closely connected to the spirit of the exhibition and the people it honours,” the gallery said.
