Launched on January 23, The Butterfly Effect is a collaboration between Hatfield Town Council and Hertfordshire County Council, working alongside three artists to transform public areas with vibrant butterfly-themed artworks.
Councillor Cathy Watson, chair of the Art Project Task and Finish group, said: “These beautiful panels have really brought some colour and joy to Hatfield and add to the public art installations in the town centre.
“We look forward to working again with our partners to deliver more projects like this in the future.”
Artists Angela Bull, Liberty Burrough, and Magdalena Gluszak developed the designs in partnership with The Butterfly Conservation and Digswell Art Trust.
Their work is now on display throughout the town, including parks and public spaces managed by Hatfield Town Council.
The primary installation can be found at Queensway Subway in Hatfield Town Centre.

The project was funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund and supported by officers from Hatfield Town Council, Hertfordshire County Council, and the Highways Authority.
Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, executive member for highways at Hertfordshire County Council, said: “The Butterfly Effect is a wonderful example of how highways infrastructure can be more than just functional – it can also be creative, welcoming and inspiring.
“By working in partnership with Hatfield Town Council, local artists and community organisations, we’ve been able to transform everyday spaces into places that people can enjoy and feel proud of.
“This project shows how small, thoughtful interventions can have a lasting positive impact on our public realm, while also celebrating nature, creativity and local talent.”
The artworks are intended to brighten public spaces while promoting creativity, community, and a connection to nature.
