Katie Munro, who works at the Lighthouse, is showcasing her artwork at the arts centre until Saturday, October 25.
The exhibition, named “Beneath the Surface,” features pieces that explore mental health, empowerment, strength, calmness and joy.
Katie finds inspiration in the sea, using collected seaweeds to create cyanotypes.
She said: “The sea is a big inspiration.

“I live in Poole and am affected by proximity to the sea.
“I don’t think you can live in this area and not be.”
Katie describes creating art as a mindful experience, which helps her explore mental health.
She said: “As an artist, or as in life, you can drive yourself crazy trying to have control over everything, but it’s a hard thing to maintain.
“I find it helps to just let things happen as they’re meant to happen.”
Katie, who has been an art teacher for 12 years, said she has been working towards having a solo exhibition for the past five years.
She said: “I’m just so excited that it’s somewhere where a lot of people are passing by and can see it.
“That was a really big honour.”
Katie will host a workshop at the Lighthouse on Saturday, October 25.
